Giant Gen fic rec post

Because it's getting harder and harder to find good Gen fics out there, here's a little point in what I believe is a step in the right direction (just follow the emoticons... ) : 


Foundling by micehell- A holyday fic. Mary made something for Christmas, and somehow, it lived on long after she did. Haunting story.

Press 3 to save by mimblexwimble- A sad fic. The voicemails are so mundane, but for just a moment, it feels like Dean's still there...

Rumspringa by july_july_july- A must read. 16 year old Dean runs away from home. And actually, it was Bobby who broke my heart in this fic. “I’m Uncle Bobby goddammit!” he yelled. *sniffles* Oh, Bobby...

Chuck Versus the Green-Eyed Monster by bellatemple   - A crazy, cracky xover WIP that's updated nearly every day. Chuck crossover where Chuck knows Sam from Stanford, and Dean because he's the Intersect... There're demons and Casy involved, and it's so, so funny...

Like the Tides of My Life by rivers_bend - Dean keeps writing his name using a sharpie marker in various places the Winchesters travel to, but he does it where no one can see it. Poignant series of ficlets that looks at Dean growing up.

Tale As Old As Time by musesfool  - Humor. Dean babysits. And Sam's so going to pay for this...

Got a Chip on my Shoulder (Got a Hole in My Shoe) by kroki_refur  - “I was a Transformer,” says Dean, grinning and spreading his arms wide. “How awesome is that?” “You were a Bombus terrestris,” says Sam. He looked it up on google image search, and he’s pretty sure... Crack.

Some People Paint by minkmix - Horror, with some disturbing scenes, so be warned.  hunt goes wrong and the Winchesters become the next victims of a demented doll collector.

Ink on Paper Leaves a Mark by kimonkey7 - Pic-fic - The boys find more than a rabbit's foot in John's locker (Mary's diary with parts about baby!Dean - OMG cute!!!)

Sin Nombre by tru_faith_lost - WIP. The boys were hired for a job. They just didn't bet on Dean getting this sick and things getting this dire... *evil grin*

The Fine Art of the PB&J by maychorian - A SG1 xover, which sounded weird at first, but I loved it. “Oh my God!” Dean groaned, dropping his pole on purpose and digging his fingers into his hair, pressing his heels into his eyes so he wouldn’t have to look at them. “You’re competing over me! As if I was a girl and you both wanted into my pants!”

Every Now and Then by ? - Stanford Era fic. Sam breaks his arm and goes to the hospital for a cast. Dean being there was totally unplanned...

You Can't Catch Me, I'm the Gingerbread Man by zannes - Crack, crack, crack on a sugar high. “Dean? If you peed on my phone, you’re having a bath in a hot cup of coffee tomorrow morning, you hear me? Decaffeinated!”

Where Monsters Fear to Roam by caffeinekitty  - Monsters Inc. xover. The Winchesters? Are SO off limits...

Take A Number by paperbkryter - Sam travels to Hell to rescue Dean, but Hell isn't exactly like what we've all been led to believe - it is, however, rather familiar to anyone who owns a car.

Ten Minutes by dodger_winslow  - a ficlet that packs a punch. He was so tired, he just wanted ten more minutes...

Cinderella Never Had Days Like This by kellifer_fic - "I know you hate witches, but this was a little overkill wasn't it?" Sam asks instead. "Worked didn't it?"

Not This Way by K Hanna Korossy - Hurt!Dean, where Sam leaves Dean to finish the job and the hospital makes Dean leave because their insurance is rejected and Dean's out of it and thinks Sam left again...

it's terrible! :( since a lot of fics seem to be gen but they're actually pre-wincest, etc

When I get back to LJ after my haitus and after I finish things in RL I'm definitely going to go on a GEN fic hunt, etc :D

Finding fics

Hi!
Thanks for this list. Over a month ago I got a virus that wiped out everything and I had to get a new computer. So what I had was gone. Can you steer me to some good sites? I like Dean & Sam, J&J slash and also other stories.
I appreciate any and all help.

I only read Gen fics, so I can't help you with wincest and J2, but I did list my delicious address in the post, and that's got over 350 fics.

This is an awesome list, and I heartily second the 'disturbing scenes' warning on "Some People Paint" by minkmix; it was almost psychologically damaging to read as a WIP. O.O
