I think most of what we're seeing this season is real and not the put on Dean. Well, 4.17 is not what I call real Dean. On the other hand, 4.17 never happened so... *shrug* I think it's interesting that even though Dean's always hiding things, he's the one that can't really keep secrets from Sam, whereas Sam's always kept secrets from Dean. I kinda like that.
