I understand that you need readers in order to feel like your work is having some payoff. I do.

There are two reasons you may not be getting as many readers as you'd like, and neither one has anything to do with how good your story is. Some people refuse to read WIPs. These people will start reading once you post your final chapter. And some people don't want to jump into a longer story unless they're in the mood for it. I'm like this. I saw you had eleven chapters so far which almost made me go read a shorter story instead. Then I decided to read the first chapter anyway, and I ended up staying up to read all eleven. I love longer stories, but I have to be in the right mindset to commit to reading a long series in one sitting. It's quite possible that some people have bookmarked your story to read when they're in the mood for a series.

I really hope people actually comment though, because this is a good story. I bet you'll get a lot more comments when the series is complete. *g*
