I'm extrapolating from what I learned watching 3:16 -- Ruby finally flat out says she wants Sam to "trip the switch" in him and unleash "the devil inside."
What she was expecting to get out of it we may never know since Lillith sent her "far, far away" and CW budget cuts are sending Katie Cassidy "far, far away."
