I don't know why, but them getting out of the car into those woods made me think of Frost ('The woods are lovely, dark and deep, but I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep…')

Post viewing thoughts:
First, yay for the boys helping out Bobby for a change!
They're still keeping to the 'is Sam 100% Sam?' line, which is cool. Especially after last week.
About Dean vs. Dean:
I thought Dean facing himself as his worst nightmare totally fit.
Him snapping his fingers and not having it work is love. Him keep trying even when it doesn't work is totally squishable. *squishes Dean* Poor baby.
I kinda hoped we'd get to see some of Dean's unfulfilled dreams. Knowing he has none is so so sad.
'Do you even have an original thought?' Wow. It makes 'Asylum' that much worse. What Sam said must have really hurt.
Ya know, when Dean finally snapped, (and I'm pretending he didn't. So there, he didn't.) I expected him to defend John, not attack him like that. Yeah, I get it, just no at that moment, not when other!Dean was saying these things. I mean, if Dean's agreeing with other!Dean, why's he attacking? It just didn't make sense to me.
And Dean blaming John for Mary? Wow. That's… new. And doesn't fit. But I guess this doesn't have to fit. It doesn't have to be rational.
Him shooting himself? Doesn't feel right to me. He's yelling about deserving more, yet he kills himself? doesn't work for me. This scene just felt… off.

Also, I kinda liked the similarity between Bobby and John.
Both lost their wives to supernatural evil and both lives because of it. Maybe that's why Bobby stayed where many others wouldn't tolerate John.
I wonder if he has any kids of his own...

And next week? Uh, why do we get an episode of Buffy next week?

I liked Dean V. Dean, too, but I agree with your comment about it being a lot of rage really fast. I think if they hadn't spliced in the crucified!Sam scenes, they could've had a more gradual build into the rage. I did feel like, even though they were hurtful things the Demon!Dean was saying, they didn't really get time to sink in the way the scene was paced.

Still, I think Dean was shooting the thing he never wants to become, not himself. He doesn't want to become the things he hunts.

Though I thought Demon!Dean was pretty friggin' hot.

And poor Sam looking at his lap and not standing up. I'm in love with that scene, too. Bwahahaha!

About him shooting the thing he never wants to become - he didn't know he was shooting a demon at first. It would make it less heartbreaking if he did. *hugs Dean*

Ugh, I only saw the epi once, but I thought his eyes were already black when Dean shot him, but it doesn't really matter. I mean, how many times have we seen cartoons with the some poor dude tortured by the angel on his one shoulder and the devil on his other. The conscience almost always looks just like the dude, and he almost always gets pissed off and smushes one of them. So, I'm pretty sure he knew he wasn't shooting himSELF when he did that.
